A little wave was bobbing along on the ocean and was having a grand old time. He was enjoying the wind and the fresh air as it travelled– until he noticed that all the other waves in front of him were crashing against the shore. "Oh My God! This is terrible!" the little wave thought. "Look at what is happening to all the other waves! And I will have to face the same fate!" he moaned. When the little wave was in this state of panic another wave came by and asked the little wave, "Why are you distressed, my friend?" The little wave replied, "We are all going to crash against the shore and face our end! All of us, waves, are going to be nothing! Isn't that terrible?" The second wave answered with a smile, "No, you don't understand. You’re not just a wave, you are a part of the ocean."
I suppose - no, I know - we all get to that point in life when we see everything crashing down. Sometimes it is because of the death of a loved one; at other times it is owing to financial losses or collapsed businesses; in some other moments it is owing to sickness, pain, suffering and what have you. In such circumstances the tendency to panic and act like the "little wave" in today's story is great. But what need we worry about? Should we, who believe in God and His planning , be so moved by the mere vicissitudes of life? Are we not to expect them? Is God's grace not meant to suffice in aiding us weather the storms and ride the turbulent waves of this thing called life?
Like the little wave, you see, we sometimes get so anxious simply because we fail to realise that we are all dearly loved by God, our Father - that we are an intricate part of His design - and that the things that come our way, good or bad, are ordered by Him for our good and are meant to shape us into all that He means for us to become. It is common to man to resist what he does not understand and protest that which he does not know. Yet if we have faith enough in our God we shall know to entrust all of life's happenings, even our unknown future, in the hands of our all-knowing God who never fails. We are here on earth for a very distinct and important reason. In this new year, let us trust God to work out His divine purpose in our lives. All we have to do is believe in Him and cooperate with His grace through everything we do. I wish you a grace-filled, wonderfully-blessed and anxiety-less year! It is well!
BE BLESSED AND BE A BLESSING ONTO ALL...
